Principal'S Message
Dear parents, students, Teachers, Ex-Anselmites, Benefactors and well wishers,
greetings to all of you.
It is a matter of pride to proclaim that St. Anselm’s senior secondary school,
Ajmer is one of its own kind in the field of education. The motto of our school
‘pleasing to God and to man‘ itself reveals that the staff and students of our
school are united in the cause of bringing positions and excellence not only in our
school, but also in everything that pleases everyone. Our school has proved
itself on many occasions that it stands second to none by obtaining positions in
the state level and in the national level in many activities and competitions.
As
I take up the charge as the new principal of this school, it is my bounded duty
to thank Rev. Fr. Lourdu Joseph, the former principal of this school for taking
this school to great heights by his hard work and best efforts all through the
past six years. I also thank Rev. Fr. Clement for his valuable services rendered
to the school in his own capacity for the last few years. I wish these loyal stalwarts all the
very best in their new missions.
In
the present day scenario, the forces of communalism, casteism and fundamentalism
are destroying the multicultural, democratic and secular fabric of our society.
The majority of people, however, have a profound yearning for brotherhood which
knows no borders. Hence promoting unity and peace is to be considered as one of
the most urgent challenges we face. To ignore this issue in the area of
education would be like ignoring an important member of a family in a family
function. Encouraging a spirituality that unites people in order to make them
aware that they are distinct, yet part of each other, is of primary importance.
As Pope John Paul II said, ``Before making practical plans, we need to promote
a spirituality of communion, making it the guiding principle of our
brothers and sisters around us ….. as ‘those who are part of me ‘.
The Indian National Policy on Education (1986) says, ‘In our national
perception, education is fundamental to our all-round development, material and
spiritual”. This all-round development requires that we not only cater to the
body, the mind and preparations for careers in the world, but more importantly to
the spirit, because the human being is essentially spiritual. Holistic education
goes beyond mere knowledge of facts. It leads to wisdom and intuition, which
belong to the spiritual realm. Holistic education develops in the individual the right mindset, attitudes and behavior that are necessary
for leading a purposeful life. Finally it can help to unite all human beings of
various religious beliefs or value systems in a common pilgrimage in search of
truth and meaning. And this is the kind of education that St. Anselm's is striving
to impart to its students year after year.
I
thank the Almighty for all His love and blessings showered upon our school all
through the past years.
I wish all my staff and my students All the Best for the Academic Year 2011-12.
God bless you all. Thank you.
Fr. Cantius Ligoury
(Principal)
May God Bless us and the children entrusted to us.
